11am & 2pm Philip LeFevre - speaking on the foundation of Fernland
and how the pieces of the park all came together
Throughout the Day:
Chuck Fields - expert woodsman will be leading
tours around the grounds of Fernland, talking about
the type of wood used in the construction of the building, the craftsmanship
of the builders, and other interesting details involved in the cabins
Mike Sproat & Derrick Birdsall of Sam Houston State University
in Huntsville and Educational Curators at the Sam Houston Memorial
Museum will speak on the relationship between Fernland & Bear Bend the
hunting lodge of Sam Houston (located under the tree to the right of Hulon House)
Billy Ray Duncan and Donald Duncan, long-time residents of Montgomery and
members of the Montgomery Historical Society will be demonstrating the use and
purpose of old tools (located under the old oak tree to the side of the
Jardine Cabin)
Pat Spackey and Jack Shepherd will be inside the Arnold-Simonton House
in 1st person as Julia & Dr. Charles B. Stewart (Pat is the great great great
grand-daughter of Stewart, who is famous as the designer of the Texas flag)
Montgomery Boy Scout Troops 351/491 will be
assisting in games for the children behind the
Arnold-Simonton House
