First state bank
Chartered on Dec 11, 1906, this was one of the first state banks in Texas. It began operations in a frame building on a lot south of its current location. The present building was finished in 1908 and is now one of the oldest existing commercial buildings in the historic trade center.
As the town's only bank, it served small farmers when cotton was king in the are. The safe was once stolen and the vault still has scars from a robbery. The bank was voluntarily liquidated in 1934 and the building was recorded as a Texas Historic Landmark in that year.
This building is privately owned but has been meticulously maintained throughout the years.
